I got this for xmas from my eldest daughter Ashlee. sequinandstripe My first thought, “How did she know?” was quickly followed by the visual of someone awake at 3am with the thought of inventing a notebook and had nothing to write it on.
Technically I wake at around 2.30. 3am is the time I surrender, turn the light on, prop up my pillows and gaze at my yoga clothes neatly laid out for the 6am class. Reaching to change the alarm I sigh and resign myself to yet another morning that “that’s not gonna happen”, because anyone who’s been up at 3am knows that by 5.30 when you want to /should be getting up you are suddenly deliciously drowsy and ready to reclaim your rightful place in dreamland.
My chinese herbalist tells me that it’s my liver waking me up because according to the TCM organ clock the energy peaks in the liver meridian at 3am. In layman terms that means my liver is doing its daily housekeeping and in my case its’ got the music on full blast and is dancing with the vacuum cleaner.
It doesn’t want to party every night but you know you’re screwed when at the first sign of stirring, the mind has that particularly alert quality and is urgently wanting to download some previous episodes or predict future events.
So here I was this morning using my little notebook when I paused to look at the positive sayings on the bottom of each page, then turning it in my hands I examined the cover and found this blurb on the back.
“When I arrived in Australia from Sweden, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. One morning at 3am, I was struggling with my ideas when my partner Paul turned on the light, took out a pen and paper, and encouraged me to write down what was important to me. This led to what I call my ‘3am list’. It helped me identify where I wanted to go and was an exciting first step in the kikki.K journey. So I encourage you to capture your own twilight inspiration.
Dream big and anything is possible.”
Well there you go. Having two daughters I was of course familiar with the brand. One of them is even a loyalty member but I never knew it was named after its’ creator and that the creator was a WOMAN! You go sister. New found respect for coordinated stationery.
I do of course register that Kristina’s was a 3am List, suggesting rational order and structure as opposed to crazed ramblings streaming from the universe that even I have trouble transcribing. I’m guessing her liver must be a classical kind of guy, mine seems to favour techno and thrash metal.
